Our mission is to create 500 sites in less than five minutes on–boarding thousands of APs and monitor all your users across all your sites on a single dashboard without any costly errors.
First we create an org on the Mist dashboard, login select your org you may have a few we’re done with step one and now let’s go set up templates this org has RF profiles and three different WLAN configs as seen here now we have the templates let’s automate we ask the customer to provide a spreadsheet containing site names site addresses and any other required site info the amount of sites could be in the thousands but for this example we did 500.
We will now automate the creation of 500 sites based on the information provided by the customer using a simple Python script note it is a human readable file and not very large now we run the script and create 500 sites in under four and a half minutes this 100% API architecture allows you to fully automate this process removing any chance of human errors.
Check the audit logs perfect and now we can validate from the dashboard that all the sites were created correctly with your current vendor how long would it take to set up a thousand sites without a single error machines should program machine.
Let’s go deploy some AP’s here we provide two options use the Mist AI iPhone app to claim AP’s on site or pre-staged APs using some very simple Mist tools.
Let’s look at option one first we download the Mist AI app from the Apple App Store install open and choose your org now choose the site you’re installing claim your first AP by scanning the QR code, success this is how you would deploy all the APs on the site.
You can also locate AP’s via the LED blink function.
We claim the AP’s to inventory assign the proper site and automatically schedule it for the approved firmware download. If this is your install method you’re done.
There’s another option some customers prefer, at a pre–staging site use a generic USB scanner connected to a laptop to scan AP QR codes and automatically claim them to a specific site. We can also auto name the AP using a regular expression matched with a simple count or the MAC address of the AP and we could also print the label now the AP’s are ready to be shipped and installed.
